Gardening continues to be a very popular activity worldwide. In our current economy, several media reports have pointed to the growing number of newcomers, growing vegetable gardens for the first time to stretch their food dollars, and other gardeners expanding their plots. Seasoned gardeners already know of the therapeutic value and great tastes; and organic gardeners have the peace of mind that their food is free of unwanted chemicals.

Gardening styles and designs are as varied as the gardeners themselves. Gardens can be as small as a few plants on a sunny windowsill or porch upward to a grander scale of acres plowed and sowed and anything in-between. Raised beds, square-foot gardening, rooftop gardens, waist-high troughs, buckets and variations on these styles add interest, personality, convenience and comfort for the individual gardeners and those enjoying the view. It also means that individuals with a wide range of skill and ability can garden.

SunDay Gardeners was created to share gardening experiences with you and to learn more from all of you. I am especially interested in hearing from you about ways to adapt or improve gardening tools and techniques for physically challenged gardeners of all ages and abilities. In the near future, I will share these ideas here. In time, there will be ergonomic tools for sale, and a new planting tool, The Gardener's Rule®.

Along with tips/tricks/techniques for gardeners, you will see reports on and some photos from my garden, gardens visited and gardeners interviewed and an occasional recipe or two. Sometimes, there will be just for fun stuff, like how to create a scare crow.

Do visit again, and see a report and photos from the Toronto Garden Show, "Canada Blooms," and sharing of comments and suggestions from some of you. You may contact us at SunDay Gardeners by clicking on "Contact Us."

In the meantime, plan your garden and get ready to plant.
